Florida Thoroughbred Charities

Charity supports the Florida Thoroughbred Retirement Farm at the Lowell Correctional Institute near Ocala, Fla in which inmates study to receive an equine certification degree and then upon leaving are placed in jobs working on horse farms. The charity also supports student scholarships among other community efforts.

Humane Society of Marion County

The mission of the Humane Society of Marion County is to prevent cruelty, suffering, and overpopulation of animals. We are a 501c3 non-profit no-kill shelter dedicated to the care and protection of animals in Marion County, Florida. HSMC is located at 701 NW 14th Road, Ocala. It was established in 1964 and has been serving homeless and neglected animals for 50 years. In addition, the Humane Society Thrift Store, located at 110 NW 10th Street, Ocala, offers an inexpensive way to find great deals on jewelry, furniture, applicances and more. Every time you buy something from the HSMC Thrift Store, the money goes to the HSMC animal shelter and helps homeless animals. Note that the Humane Society is offering free pet boarding for first responders during a disaster.

Ocala-Marion County Hospitality Council

The Marion County Hospitality Council is a non-profit organization formed with a simple goal – to create a platform for dedicated professionals in the Marion County Hospitality and Tourism Industries to exchange ideas and information, promote events in our area and network to provide unique and memorable experiences to those who visit or reside in Marion County.

As leaders in the Hospitality Industry, our members strive to instill the ethics and best practices in today’s youth by developing scholarships for students who are pursuing careers in our field, and support them with mentoring programs and internships as well.

Additionally, we will create opportunities to raise funds for local and national charities and host events to support our local community.
